Modernizing Commerce & Customer Engagement Across North America

What was happening

Gallagher had an established digital commerce presence supporting customers across North America.

As the business continued to expand across regions, the team saw an opportunity to modernize its commerce and customer engagement ecosystem in a way that would better support long-term scalability, localization, and operational flexibility across the U.S. and Canada.

At the same time, SAP’s roadmap evolution away from legacy accelerator storefronts created an opportunity to align the platform with newer composable commerce standards and modern front-end architecture.

Where growth opportunities existed

Gallagher’s existing environment supported multiple regional operations, but the complexity of managing commerce, content, and customer engagement across markets created opportunities for further alignment and modernization.

  • Regional storefronts and catalogs required a more scalable long-term operating model
  • Marketing and commerce systems could be more closely connected around customer and transactional data
  • Legacy accelerator storefronts were approaching the end of SAP’s long-term direction
  • Opportunities existed to improve storefront flexibility, performance, and deployment efficiency across regions
“This project was about creating a stronger digital foundation to deliver a more connected, consistent experience for our customers, wherever they engage with us. By better connecting our commerce, customer, marketing and transactional data, we can deliver more personalised experiences and continue to evolve our omnichannel capabilities as our business grows.”

  • Commerce and customer engagement systems became more closely connected

Insight

Modernizing enterprise commerce is rarely about replacing everything at once. The real challenge is evolving platforms, systems, and customer experiences in a way that supports long-term growth without disrupting the realities of day-to-day operations.
